Our beginner classes run all year round commencing at 6:30pm each Monday. It is important to be there right on starting time otherwise you will be behind the rest of the class and may find it difficult to catch up with the other beginners.
This class starts with basic instruction on either Samba, Cha Cha Cha or Rumba, where you will learn basic steps so that in a very short time you are moving rhythmically in time to popular current music. As you progress around the circle you will meet other beginners on their first night, as well as our more experienced medalists, who are only too willing to help you enjoy your first dancing experience. So remember once you get up those stairs you are amongst friends and you will have a great time.
Next in the class is one of our fun progressive dances where you will join a large number of young people all having fun and enjoying being able to dance as well as meeting new friends. There is instruction then on another popular latin dance at basic level to bring this beginners segment to a close around 8:00pm.
Pupils are then invited to take a partner for a couple of general dances for everyone to enjoy before going on with the advanced social class, which is aimed for the intermediate level dancer. Here more advanced stages of the dances are taught. Pupils who have been attending the beginners class and are able to keep pace with the basic steps, in time with the music, are welcome to stay on for this social level class at no further cost.
Following the advanced class is a more advanced class beginning at 8:30pm, where social dancers are able to develop their skills to a higher level with more emphasis on correct technique and poise allowing pupils to advance to bronze medal standard in three of the Latin American dances. Again there is no further cost for this class, and this enables our experienced dancers to enjoy the pleasure of dancing from 6:30 – 9:30pm for the initial entry fee.
