Latin American

Our beginner classes run all year round commencing at 6:30pm each Monday.  It is important to be there right on starting time, otherwise you will be behind the rest of the class and may find it difficult to catch up with the other beginners.

This class starts with basic instruction on either Salsa, Rock’n Roll, Cha Cha Cha, Jive, Bachata

Dances are taught in a 6 week rotation.

Week 1 & 2 – Cha Cha Cha and Bachata

          Week 3 & 4 – Salsa and Rock’n Roll

          Week 5 & 6 – Jive and Rumba.

After dancing the first dance on the night you will be learning one of our fun progressive dances where you will join a large number of young people all having fun and enjoying being able to dance as well as meeting new friends. Then, there is instruction on another popular Latin dance at basic level to bring the beginners segment to a close around 7:30pm.

Pupils may then be invited to take a partner for a  general dance before going on with the intermediate social class, which is  for the intermediate level dancer.  Here more advanced stages of the dances are taught.  Pupils who have been attending the beginners class and are able to keep pace with the basic steps, in time with the music, are welcome to stay on for this social level class at no further cost.  This second class runs from 7:40pm – 8:40pm approximately.

Following these first 2 classes there is the advanced class beginning at 8:45pm, where social dancers are able to develop their skills to a higher level with more emphasis on correct technique and poise, allowing pupils to advance to bronze medal standard in three of the Latin American dances.  Again there is no further cost for this class, and this enables our experienced dancers to enjoy the pleasure of dancing from 6:30pm – 9:30pm for the initial entry fee. Where else can you learn such a fun activity and exercise for 3 hours for so little cost?
